Purple Rain Ingredients

Purple Rain Description

The Purple Rain recipe is dedicated to Prince who died April 21, 2016.

Take a shaker and add the blue curaçao, the vodka, the grenadine, the cranberry juice and the pineapple juice. Shake well and strain your Purple Rain drink over ice in your glass. Squeeze the juice of 2 lemon wedges into your Purple Rain cocktail and drink it in tribute to one of the greatest artists of all time.

The Purple Rain mixed drink is the cocktail of the day for June 7 when in 1958 Prince Rogers Nelson, better known as Prince or the Love Symbol, was born. One of his greatest hits was of course purple rain.

The purple rain drink refers also to other drinks. One of those drinks is a sort of variation of the highball long island iced tea. For this purple rain drink we replace the cola with lime and lemon soda. The triple sec is replaced with chambord.

The other version of the purple rain drink is made with lemonade, blue curaçao, vodka and grenadine. This purple rain drink comes from the fact that the grenadine is added in the end. It sinks through the curaçao blue and gives the idea of a purple rain. All this info can also be found on wikipedia.

The purple rain drink is told to be a known cocktail in the Caribbean area. It is not clear who is the inventor of the purple rain drink, the only reference we found is the link with the Caribbean area.

If you like the purple rain drink, we have some other cocktails we recommend for you: the alice in wonderland, the lemon cooler, the bantha milk or the red fresh.
